Daniel Levy Keen to Continue Troy Parrott's Development to Save Spurs Money in the Long Run

Daniel Levy is banking on Troy Parrott's eventual development into a Premier League class striker to save the club millions of pounds in the long run.

The young Irishman hasn't convinced Jose Mourinho of his immediate quality in their relatively short time together, even in the absence of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, but the 18-year-old has already appeared for Ireland's senior team and appears destined for the very top.

The Telegraph report that the Irishman's ability has convinced Levy that the youngster will save the club a lot of money in the long run, with transfer fees rising higher and higher with every passing window.

The teenage forward is yet to really get going for the senior squad, playing just six minutes of Premier League football this season despite a complete absence of natural forwards available to Mourinho who aren't currently injured.

The Portuguese has slightly dampened the excitement surrounding Parrott though, saying this week: "So he needs to have his feet on the ground, we need to help him to have his feet on the ground. To behave like a very young professional that has a career ahead of him, not as somebody in the last part of his career. There is an educational process.

"For example, yesterday I was so happy with the way he performed and I’m not speaking about the goal that he scored. I told him before the game, every time you play with the kids of your age, you have to show your colleagues why you are the privileged one.

"Why you are training in the first-team every day and some of them are not – they are still in the group age, because it was something that he was not doing. Every time he was playing with the kids, he was playing with the mentality of 'I shouldn't be here' or 'I am too good to be here' or 'It's not here that I want to play' and this is an educational process that comes."

As Tottenham look to build a financially stable club for the future, Levy will continue to encourage Mourinho to bring through youth into his first team. Best of luck on that.
