Danny Rose Completes Loan Move to Newcastle From Tottenham Until End of the Season

Newcastle have confirmed the signing of Tottenham left back Danny Rose on loan until the end of the season.

The England international will add some much needed depth to the Magpies' back line, with Jetro Willems and Paul Dummett both ruled out for the rest of the season. Matt Ritchie has featured in the left wing back spot in recent weeks, but Rose will offer a more orthodox option.

In a statement, Newcastle revealed: "England international Danny Rose has joined Newcastle United on loan from Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the season.

"The 29-year-old full back, who played in the 2018 World Cup semi final and the 2019 Champions League final, is Magpies’ head coach Steve Bruce’s third signing of the January transfer window, following the arrivals of Nabil Bentaleb and Valentino Lazaro.

"He will wear the number 28 shirt for United, and is eligible to make his Magpies bow in Saturday’s Premier League game against Norwich City at St. James’ Park."

Rose added: “It’s a great honour for me to be here. I’m so grateful that the manager has brought me in and I’m looking to repay him in every way I can as soon as I’m playing.

“For me, it’s really exciting that I can come here and have the chance to play in front of the Newcastle fans.

“Newcastle is one of the biggest clubs in England. I spoke to the manager last night and he told me there were 50,000 fans here at the weekend against Oxford. You can’t go wrong with that kind of passion and support from the fans, and it’s something I’m looking forward to.”

The move offers Rose the chance to rebuild his career after a whirlwind few years at Tottenham which have seen his stock fall.
