Harry Kane Relishing the Prospect of Playing With Steven Bergwijn and Gedson Fernandes

Spurs talisman Harry Kane has spoken of his excitement to finally play on the same pitch as January signings Steven Bergwijn and Gedson Fernandes.

Tottenham added the Portuguese Fernandes to their squad on an 18-month loan deal from Benfica over the winter transfer window, while Bergwijn signed permanently from PSV Eindhoven.

Bergwijn in particular has hit the ground running, scoring on his debut against Manchester City, but Kane has been unable to play alongside either the Dutchman or Fernandes after tearing his hamstring against Southampton on New Years' Day.

With Kane now set to be fit for the Premier League's return to action after its postponement, he admitted to Spurs' official website that he is relishing the opportunity to see the two youngsters in action alongside him.

“We’ve only just started training together," Kane admitted.

"I got injured on 1 January, so Gedson and Stevie, I’ve not really seen much of in terms of playing with or getting that connection, although obviously I’ve watched them play.

"I can’t wait to get back out there. It’s been long enough without a game, especially when there are top players who are new to the club and you want to be on the pitch with them. I’m looking forward to it, looking forward to playing with everyone again."

Kane went on to discuss how a rejuvenated Spurs squad are feeling ahead of a schedule which will likely pit them against Manchester United in their first game back, speaking optimistically about his side's clean bill of health:

“The squad is looking good. Everyone is fully fit and ready to go and that’s when we’re at our strongest, when we have a full, healthy squad," he continued.

"We’ll work hard from now until the first game and hopefully we’ll finish strongly in the last nine games.”
