Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho is said to be keen on bolstering his squad this summer with the additions of West Ham defender Issa Diop and Wolves striker Raul Jimenez.
The Lilywhites have endured a difficult campaign on the whole, and were dumped out of the FA Cup by Norwich prior to football taking an extended break because of the coronavirus outbreak.
They have also lost ground in the race for a top four Premier League finish, but remain in contention after piecing together some important results after the new year.
Whether or not the 2019/20 season is concluded remains up in the air for now, but Foot Mercato claim that Tottenham already have one eye on next season - and are already 'prioritising' their targets for the summer transfer window.
Their report states that Diop, who has stood out for West Ham during a difficult season, is the first name on Mourinho's defensive wishlist, while Raul Jimenez is being considered as another option up front.
Interest in Diop should perhaps come as no surprise, with Mourinho a known admirer from his time as Manchester United boss. After watching his Red Devils slip to a 3-1 defeat at the London Stadium last season, the Portuguese boss heaped praise on the-then 22-year-old's 'monster' performance, admitting that he had 'dominated' a number of duels.
A fee of around £55m may be needed to persuade West Ham into selling, though, given they paid £22m for his services when poaching him from Toulouse. Then, Diop was a relative unknown - but his pace and reading of the game has seen his profile raised, as well as his valuation.
Raul Jimenez, meanwhile, has been identified as a striker capable of relieving the goalscoring burden on Harry Kane.
England's captain remains the only senior striker on Tottenham's books and his hefty workload has again led to a number of relatively serious injury niggles. Mexico striker Jimenez has 13 goals to his name for Wolves this season, and he's impressed many with his work rate, as well as his ability to link up play with midfield.
He too is thought to be valued around the £50m mark, which may prove a stumbling block for Spurs. It's unlikely that the former Benfica man would want to play second fiddle to Kane, either, meaning a change in tactic may need to be made in order to accommodate him.
Jimenez may also opt to stay and help push Wolves towards Champions League qualification - something that is not out of the realms of possibility given their strong showings before play was suspended.
