Jose Mourinho Already Knows Christian Eriksen's Next Move Ahead of January Window

Tottenham Hotspur manager José Mourinho claims he already knows what Christian Eriksen's future holds - but is refusing to shed any light on the situation publicly.

The Denmark international is heading into the final few months of his contract and has been heavily linked with a move away from Tottenham, either during the January window or on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Mourinho's already convinced Toby Alderweireld to sign a contract extension at Tottenham and the Portuguese manager claims he also knows what Eriksen's plans are ahead of the January transfer window.

"I think I know his future because his communication with me is completely open and honest and we trust each other," Mourinho said, quoted by AS

"The only thing I can tell you is that I know his future but I am not going to be the one to speak about his future. It has to be him to speak about his future when he makes the decision to speak about his future, not me."

Even though Mourinho wouldn't reveal where Eriksen's future lies, the Portuguese manager was eager to add that the midfielder's contract situation hasn't taken away from his desire to help the club this season.

"My sensation is that Eriksen wants to help us," he added. "That's why I play him when we need someone with his qualities."

Although it's unknown if Eriksen will be set to follow in Alderweireld's footsteps by signing a new long-term contract, Eric Dier is set to be rewarded with a new deal as his importance in the first team continues to increase under Mourinho.

The 25-year-old's current deal is set to expire in 2021, but Dier's extension - which is believed to be work £75,000 a week - is likely to see him tied to the club at least until 2024.
