Jose Mourinho Apologises for Breaking Distancing Rules With Tanguy Ndombele Park Training Session

​José Mourinho has admitted it was a mistake to conduct 1-on-1 training with Tanguy Ndombele during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Spurs were left bemused by Mourinho's decision to hold an impromptu session with the much maligned Frenchman in a public park earlier this week.

The move - which blatantly flouted the UK government's social distancing regulations - was similarly condemned on social media.

Mourinho has now conceded that the Hadley Common training session should not have taken place. 

"I accept that my actions were not in line with government protocol and we must only have contact with members of our own household," the Spurs boss said (via the ​Mirror). "It is vital we all play our part and follow government advice in order to support our heroes in the NHS and save lives."

A source suggested to the Mirror that the training session was Mourinho's idea as he wanted to 'do some work' with Ndombele to help him during lockdown. 

Davinson Sanchez and Ryan Sessegnon - who both live near the park - were also pictured jogging together. This constituted a violation of social distancing rules but it is understood that neither of them joined in with the training session directly.

Tottenham are unhappy with their manager's actions and a club spokesperson said: "All of our players have been reminded to respect social distancing when exercising outdoors."


Prior to this incident Spurs received criticism for using public money to place their non-playing staff on furlough. This action was taken despite none of the club's playing or coaching receiving any reduction to their hefty salaries. 


Though this move sparked outrage, Tottenham have also been performing some admirable work during the coronavirus crisis. Mourinho himself helped pack and deliver food parcels to the vulnerable and the elderly several weeks ago.
