Jose Mourinho bemoans lack of a 'good Dele Alli' amid Spurs' attacking woes

Tottenham Hotspur suffered their sixth Premier League defeat of the campaign at the hands of Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea last night, and Jose Mourinho has bemoaned the absence of a 'good Dele Alli' when discussing the team's attacking woes - despite the fact he didn't even play.

Spurs have scored just once in their last three league games and when faced by the media following another disappointing result and performance, the 58-year-old was quick to highlight those he was without, and in doing so, he appeared to take a swipe at the out-of-favour 24-year-old.

As quoted by Football.London, he said: “Well, [Sergio] Reguilon means something for our attacking football, Harry Kane means something for our attacking football. [Giovani] Lo Celso again means something for our attacking football.

"A good Dele Alli that we didn't have yet but hope that we can have in the future means something for us."

Alli has featured just four times in the top flight this season with his last appearance coming in the defeat to Liverpool back in December when he played just three minutes, and based on Mourinho's most recent remarks, he appears to be suggesting the player hasn't been good enough even when available.

However, given his reluctance to select the player, even when fit and available, should he be including Alli when listing off those whose absences he feels have impacted on the team's performances lately?

The former MK Dons man looked set to join Paris Saint-Germain on loan during last month's transfer window but as reported in a 90min exclusive, Daniel Levy's reluctance to allow an option to buy clause to be included in the deal saw it fall apart, leaving Alli furious.

Tottenham will be hoping for a return to form as they host lowly West Brom on Sunday.
