Man City vs Tottenham - Carabao Cup final preview: How to watch on TV, live stream & prediction

Finally, after months of waiting, the Carabao Cup final is upon us!

Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have had to bide their time for this cup final to be given the green light, after it was delayed in order to allow fans into the stadium to mark the occasion.

Unfortunately for Jose Mourinho, they wait proved too long. The Portuguese coach was sacked following Spurs' 2-2 draw with Everton earlier in the month, and rookie coach Ryan Mason has been tasked with leading this confidence-shot side out under the Wembley arch on Sunday.

The 29-year-old did win his first match in charge, beating Southampton on Wednesday evening, but the challenge posed by Man City is far greater. The Cityzens are not in the most clinical of form, having slipped up in the FA Cup semi-final to Chelsea while they laboured to wins over Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa.

However, they are still the Premier League leaders, and are aiming to notch their first trophy on the way to a potential treble. Spurs, of course, are desperate to end their 13-year wait for silverware.

Here's 90min's preview of the big cup final.

Manchester City team news

The question of the lips of every Manchester City fan is whether Kevin De Bruyne will be fit, after he was forced off with injury in the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea. He is back in training, which is good news, but Guardiola is unlikely to risk him with the Champions League semi-final just around the corner.

The same goes for Sergio Aguero, who is close to a return, but he may not be thrown on for this occasion. Elsewhere, Guardiola has confirmed that Zack Steffen will start ahead of Ederson between the sticks, while John Stones is suspended after picking up a red card against Aston Villa in their most recent Premier League clash.

That hands Aymeric Laporte the opportunity to partner Ruben Dias at the heart of the defence.

Like City, Spurs are sweating over the fitness of their most influential player. Harry Kane sat out the recent victory over Southampton with another ankle injury, and it is very much a race against time to see whether he can make it back for the final.

He'll be desperate to play, even if he's only half fit. Mason is likely to put his trust in Gareth Bale once again after his impressive display against the Saints, while Giovani Lo Celso could step into the midfield.

Full-backs Matt Doherty and Ben Davies are ruled out for the big match.

Prediction

Predicting the outcome of a final is never straight-forward, especially when the complexity of a new manager is thrown into the mix.

However, it's hard to look beyond City and their relentless pursuit for glory. They are on top of the league, and although their form has dipped slightly, they go into this game as heavy favourites.

Mason's boys will be well up for it and will show plenty of fight and sprit, but the talent of the Cityzens should prevail. Phil Foden has shown everyone what he can do of late, so we can expect another devastating from him and Guardiola's side as a whole.

Prediction: Manchester City 3-1 Tottenham
