Mauricio Pochettino coy over possible third bid for West Broms Saido Berahino

West Brom are reportedly demanding £25million for Berahino after turning down Spurs' second offer for the England Under-21 international, said to be in the region of £21million.

Berahino has handed in a transfer request at Albion and has also unfollowed the club on Twitter, but chairman Jeremy Peace insisted earlier this week that selling the forward was not on their agenda.

"I need to spend my time thinking how I improve my team and to be focused on my players," Pochettino said ahead of his side's home match against Everton on Saturday

"It is true there are a lot of rumours around us with different players and different names

It is obvious we need one striker more, maybe one player more, and we are working hard.

"This you know and this is what we need to provide the squad with - the right balance to compete the whole season

This is my one desire and we are working hard for that."

The Spurs manager described claims that Bayer Leverkusen's Son Heung-Min had already undergone a medical as "another rumour"

He also insisted he was happy with Harry Kane, who has failed to score this season, and backed the England international to get back among the goals

"I am not concerned or worried about him," the Argentinian said

"He is a top scorer and maybe the next game will have the possibility to score

"But this is football, and Harry knows it is okay

He is full of energy and against Leicester he played really well and worked hard for for the team

"When you work hard and you do your job and you have the quality he has, he will score a lot of goals in the future."

Pochettino confirmed Christian Eriksen remained sidelined with a knee injury and will miss the game against Everton

But he hinted that Andros Townsend, who has missed the opening matches of the season with an ankle problem, could return to his squad for the tea-time kick-off

Pochettino also suggested Erik Lamela may remain at Spurs beyond the transfer window despite being linked with a move back to Serie A.

He said: "Is he in talks with Inter Milan? I don't know

Erik said nothing to me

Today he was in training and happy

Lamela said nothing to me and it is only a rumour we see in the media."
