Paris Saint-Germain 'Confident' of Landing Dele Alli on 12-Month Loan Deal

Paris Saint-Germain are 'confident' Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli is interested in joining the French champions this summer, with talks ongoing regarding a potential 12-month loan deal for the attacking midfielder.

Despite enjoying an incredible purple patch upon the arrival of Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho last season, the England international has since struggled to string any consistent run of form together, leaving him on the periphery of Spurs' plans.

Alli started in the opening day defeat to Everton, but was hooked at half time, and he was subsequently left out of the matchday squad for the 5-2 victory over Southampton on Sunday afternoon.

Now slipping down the pecking order, the 24-year-old may be on his way out - and PSG fancy their chances of adding the superstar to their squad. According to The Telegraph, the French champions are 'confident' that Alli is willing to swap London for Paris, and a year-long loan deal could be the best move for all parties.

The two clubs hold an excellent relationship following their dealings involving Serge Aurier and Lucas Moura, and PSG are growing in belief that they can pull off this major coup.

The former MK Dons starlet's stature in the squad will have been weakened by the arrival of Tottenham favourite Gareth Bale, who has joined Spurs from Real Madrid on a 12-month loan deal himself. This casts Alli's future at the club into further doubt, with both operating in similar spaces on the pitch, and the Welshman clearly intending to play as many minutes as possible on his return to the Premier League.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is unwilling to allow the midfielder to leave permanently this summer, aware that his transfer value has suffered a big hit over the past 12 months, and with a serious lack of money swirling in the current market.

The Lilywhites are in a strong negotiating position too, given that Alli signed a new contract back in 2018, tying his future to north London until the summer of 2024. The hope is that a temporary move away from the Premier League side will help him to recapture that electric form of old, and he will come back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as a more complete and well-rounded footballer.
