Tottenham 1-3 Manchester United: Players ratings as Mason Greenwood inspires Red Devils comeback

Manchester United moved nine points clear of fifth place after late Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood goals gave them a 3-1 win over Tottenham on Sunday.

After a tepid start the visitors thought they had poked their noses in front when Paul Pogba slid Cavani through, who finished cooly. However, following a VAR review the goal was ruled out for a Scott McTominay foul in the buildup.

Spurs took full advantage of this reprieve minutes later when Lucas Moura capitalised on Victor Lindelof's mistake to lay one on a plate for Son to tap home.

After the break United drew level when a neat passing move was finished off by Fred on the rebound, after Cavani's shot was saved. The game sparked into life after this with the Red Devils creating a flurry of chances.

Eventually their pressure paid off with Cavani finally grabbing a goal, heading home Greenwood's cross at the back post with 10 minutes to play. In the closing stages Greenwood then powered home from close range himself to make it 3-1.

Here are your Spurs and United player ratings from north London...

TOTTENHAM PLAYER RATINGS

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Hugo Lloris (GK) - 6/10 - Made a string of great savees after the break. A one-handed stop from a Fernandes strike was the highlight. Still conceded three, though.

Serge Aurier (RB) - 5/10 - Drove his team forward tenaciously on occasions. Defended stoically, until he lost Cavani for the goal.

Eric Dier (CB) - 6/10 - An error-free display. He played the ball long into Lo Celso effectively.

Joe Rodon (CB) - 6/10 - Was not tested too frequently but he dealt with United's runs in behind nicely.

Sergio Reguilon (LB) - 4/10 - A quiet afternoon. He supported the attack on occasion but barely influenced the game. Skinned by Greenwood for the last goal.

2. Midfielders

Tanguy Ndombele (CM) - 6/10 - Showed his talent with a few tricky runs through midfield. Was nearly flawless in possession.

Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg (CM) - 6/10 - Offered good resistance in midfield. Some of his passing was a bit loose.

Giovani Lo Celso (AM) - 7/10 - A well-rounded display. He completed some attractive round-the-corner passes and also put himself about, making three tackles in the first half alone.

3. Forwards

Son opened the scoring just before the break | Marc Atkins/Getty Images

Lucas Moura (RW) - 7/10 - Showed fine vision to create Son's goal. Ran down quite a few dead ends thereafter, though.

Harry Kane (ST) - 6/10 - Worked hard, running the channels and completing a fair amount of tackles. Forced a decent save out of Henderson in the first half.

Son Heung-min (LW) - 8/10 - Heavily involved in the first half, tumbling to the ground after McTominay's haymaker before opening the scoring with a calm finish. His side's most creative player throughout.

4. Substitutes

Moussa Sissoko - 5/10 - Added very little after coming on.

Gareth Bale - 6/10 - An uneventful ten-minute cameo.

Erik Lamela - N/A

MANCHESTER UNITED PLAYER RATINGS

5. Goalkeeper & defenders

Henderson was beaten by Son for the opener | Pool/Getty Images

Dean Henderson (GK) - 7/10 - Mopped up Spurs' long balls well. Given little chance for Spurs' goal.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB) - 6/10 - Questions might be asked of him for Son's goal but Rashford should have given him some defensive support. Steady other than that.

Victor Lindelof (CB) - 6/10 - Fluffed his clearance in the build up to Son's opener. Recovered okay.

Harry Maguire (CB) - 7/10 - Accomplished. He dominated the air and read the game expertly. Was naive to foul Kane in the second half, earning himself a yellow card in the process.

Luke Shaw (LB) - 7/10 - An assured performance both defensively and going forward. Still bang in form.

6. Midfielders

McTominay was harshly penalised for a hand to Son's face in the first half | Clive Rose/Getty Images

Scott McTominay (CM) - 6/10 - Very unlucky to be penalised by VAR. He covered every blade of grass after that and showed his passing range.

Fred (CM) - 7/10 - Showed a surprising poacher's instinct to grab a rare goal just after the break. Broke up the play efficiently throughout.

Bruno Fernandes (AM) - 7/10 - Quiet for long spells but burst into life for United's second goal, setting Greenwood free with a fine nutmeg.

7. Forwards

Cavani was not happy to have his goal ruled out | Marc Atkins/Getty Images

Marcus Rashford (RW) - 5/10 - Not his day. He kept trying to make things happen but did not get the rub of the green. Far more effective off the left wing.

Edinson Cavani (ST) - 8/10 - Extremely unlucky to have his early goal ruled out. His movement in the box was sharp throughout and he was finally rewarded in the second half.

Paul Pogba (LW) - 7/10 - Timed his pass perfectly in the buildup to the disallowed goal. Tried to be flashy when he probably could have scored in the second half. His driving runs and assist for the third goal made up for that, though.

8. Substitutes

Greenwood made an instant impact after coming on | ADRIAN DENNIS/Getty Images

Mason Greenwood - 9/10 - Assisted the winner just seven minutes after coming on, then grabbed a goal himself. Flames.

Nemanja Matic - N/A
