Tottenham confirm signing of Fraser Forster

Tottenham have announced the signing of Fraser Forster on a free transfer from Southampton.

The 34-year-old joins on a two-year contract and will serve as backup for club captain Hugo Lloris.

Spurs had been on the hunt for a new goalkeeper after opting not to make Pierluigi Gollini's loan move from Atalanta permanent.

That search has now concluded with the signing of Forster, who will officially join the club on July 1 when his Southampton contract expires.

Forster spent eight years at St Mary's following a successful stint north of the border with Celtic, though did return to Glasgow for the 2019/20 season.

He rotated with Alex McCarthy back at Southampton for the 2021/22 season, notably putting in a top performance in the Saints' 1-0 win against Arsenal - a result that helped Spurs secure Champions League qualification.

Forster's form saw him called into Gareth Southgate's England squad for this year's March internationals, though was not included for this month's round of Nations League fixtures.
