Tottenham Enter Gedson Fernandes Race With Loan Offer - Decision Expected Imminently

Tottenham have joined the race for Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes and have made an offer to sign the player on loan.

Fernandes has struggled for game time this season and, as a result, the 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the Portuguese giants, with Manchester United, Chelsea and West Ham among his potential destinations.

It was previously reported that Chelsea had made an 18-month loan offer to Benfica for Fernandes - with an obligation to purchase him for £55m - although it has since been claimed that caution should be taken in regards to whether or not this has actually happened.

Elsewhere, it's been confirmed to 90min that West Ham are leading the race for his signature, with the Hammers having agreed a deal 'in principle' to sign the player on an 18-month loan.

However, Sky Sports now claim that Tottenham have entered the race and have made an offer to bring Fernandes to north London on loan.

The report states that Spurs are in the market for a new midfielder after Moussa Sissoko was recently ruled out for, at least, three months through injury.

As a result, the Lilywhites have made their move, but there are no further details regarding the offer put forward. The player will make a decision on his future this weekend when he is due to arrive in London.

This comes after it was recently revealed that the club do not plan to sign a replacement for the injured Sissoko in January until they are able to offload Victor Wanyama and Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen has been tipped to join Inter in recent days, with a move to Manchester United now otut of the question. The Italian giants have offered him a four-year contract and are preparing to submit a €20m bid to Tottenham this month. As for Wanyama, he has been attracting interest from Bundesliga side Hertha BSC.
