Tottenham Join Serie A Giants in Race to Sign Napoli Hotshot Arkadiusz Milik

Tottenham are understood to be keen on Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik, though they face stiff opposition for his signature from Serie A dominators Juventus.

José Mourinho is in the market for a centre forward as he looks to bolster his attacking options at Tottenham; a problem that was highlighted when the club were left without an out-and-out striker after Harry Kane ruptured a tendon in his hamstring in the New Year’s Day defeat to Southampton.

The Poland international has been a key part of the Napoli side since joining in 2016

A report from Goal now claims that Mourinho has turned his attentions to Milik – whose contract expires next season - as he seeks adequate, experienced cover for Spurs' prolific talisman.

Milik has been with Napoli for four seasons after opting to leave Ajax, notching an impressive 47 goals in 113 appearances. However, if Spurs are to get their man they will have to fend off interest from Serie A champions Juventus.

Maurizio Sarri has made no secret of his desire to bring Milik to Turin, with a swap deal including defender Cristian Romero thought to have been put forward - and swiftly rejected - by the Old Lady.

Milik is said to be keen on a reunion with Sarri, who was his manager at Napoli for two seasons before he headed to Chelsea.

The injury to Harry Kane on New Year's Day outlined Mourinho's need for forward cover

Discussions between Napoli and Juventus are ongoing, with Federico Bernardeschi and Luca Pellegrini two names which have been mentioned should a swap deal be agreed.

Even though Juventus are in the midst of a titanic title tussle with Lazio - the gap between the two sides currently standing out four points - future planning is already well underway at the club, evidenced by the completion of a deal for Barcelona midfielder Arthur. Again, though, that was a deal financed by swapping players - with Miralem Pjanic on his way to Camp Nou next season.

With the future of an ageing Gonzalo Higuain up in the air, Sarri is looking to bring in a new striker to either replace or cover the Argentine. Spurs may have the upper hand, though, as they'll likely be able to afford more time on the field to Milik, given the competition provided by both Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo at Juve.
