Tottenham Looking Into Alleged Racial Abuse of Son Heung-min From Home Fans During Man Utd Loss

Tottenham are looking into allegations made by a season ticket holder and football journalist regarding racist remarks directed at Son Heung-min by the home fans during Sunday's 1-0 loss to Manchester United at Wembley.

James Dickens, a Spurs fan and season ticket holder, as well as the editor-in-chief at Goal, aired the allegations on his own twitter account, after hearing abuse aimed at the South Korean from his seats.

His tweet read: "I've not experienced racism at football for about 15 years. But today at @SpursOfficial was hideous. Reported to stewards, confronted him myself and was called a c*nt. While I was standing next to my son. Hideous."

He continued: "Stand-up to racism and it won't survive, let it go and it will just get worse. Spurs are looking into this now, and have been great."

He also retweeted a reply from a fellow Spurs fan, which claimed: "I hear abuse aimed at Son at every home game from our fans, and in some instances I’ve been stood next to Korean fans who speak better English than the abusers. It’s embarrassing when they turn around to look and it’s the home end not the away fans."

This incident involving Son would not be the first time Spurs have faced racism probes this term, following the banana that was thrown at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during December's north London derby against Arsenal at the Emirates.

After that incident, Mauricio Pochettino proclaimed a desire to "kill racism", though the instances seem to be multiplying if anything, following the incident involving Raheem Sterling at Stamford Bridge, as well as the three Chelsea supporters who were investigated for racially aggravated public order offences during the Carabao Cup semi final clash with Spurs.
