There were several people that stuck out for me on Sunday. However they do not agree with the rating of Sky, but agrees with Squawka.
Bentaleb was a standout performer for me. He defended exceptionally well, positionally was solid and supported the attack well. I have been not anti Bentaleb, but hesitant to heap praise on the youngster, however for me he was MOTM for me. Based on points Lloris was MOTM with 62 compared to Bentaleb's 60, but I feel Nabil had far more involvement throughout.
Dier put in the best cross I have seen in some time, inch perfect and leaving Kane with nothing to do but be there. He too defended well and looked comfortable at the back.
Fazio possibly played one of his best games for Spurs, or was it that there was not a big goal threat from Everton. Either way his game was not filled with highlights of how not to defend so I am certainly happier.
It did however highlight that Spurs cannot play both Bentaleb and Mason together. Both played one in defence and one in midfield and Mason was ok and Bentaleb fantastic. I would love to see the two play together, but it is much like watching Lampard and Gerrard together, individually good but bad together (no I am not comparing the two to them, just how they play together).
It was also disappointing to see the side drop off in the second half.
However positives are Great first half, Clean Sheet, Kane scored and no injuries.
All in all we are lucky to have finished in 5th (not that Liverpool deserved to finish there). There were a large number of failures this season and a large number of players that have done nothing to warrant their spot in the squad.
We did have 1 MAJOR coup in that Kane has been shot into stardom with his goals and game play.
Its a mixed year that I would like to say we all expected to be a transitional season so 5th is good. However it was not that the team looked be in transition more lazy.
Let's hope that with the edge over Liverpool we can strengthen the squad with the required players!
