Say what you want Fergie but it wasn't just Utd that had poor decisions against them. Rafael could have easily have been sent off with 3 separate yellows, players were manhandled to the ground, all in all Utd looked to struggle and resulted to tactics of one of their old enemies Leeds!
Utd were almost shut out with just 4 shots on goal, so you have to give credit to the defence on that. I realise that we conceded a goal, but to be fair it was Parker and Dembele on the build up that had no idea of where to head and it was them that gave Cleverly the space to cross, we can allow them 1 mistake I feel.
There is one thing that stopped us taking all 3 points and none of this was the team or AVB's fault, but I will leave it till the end to go through this.
Parker has shown again why we have missed him, we are certainly blessed in the defensive midfield position! Lennon looked great and his work ethic was exceptionally high throughout. Dembele was my man of the match for his tireless performance. Dempsey however is again our saviour with another great goal against Utd (thats 4 in 4 games for him and 4 points he's won us against Utd)!
So do I have anything to complain about? Not performance wise and not tactically wise, the only true complaint I have is that Levy has not signed the much needed striker or creative midfielder! Defoe is struggling at the moment and his confidence has dropped (his last shot that Rio slid in to deflect was a clear example). He has been relied on far too much and although Dempsey has stepped up we cannot now rely solely on him.
In terms of defending we looked good on a whole, in midfield we battled well and managed to get the ball up field, but we failed to create the clear cut chances, or when we did our forwards were not confident in putting them in.
If there is one thing that must be learnt from the Utd game it is that we are desperate to get these players. Our confidence will certainly be high from the late goal, but the confidence rapidly disappears when the players tire again. So if we sign now it will give a further boast to morale and give that further depth and quality that we are crying out for.
Come on Levy stop backing your bank and back the TEAM!!!!! AVB, the team and the fans that pay for it all are counting on you!
