I would like to know what the true sources are on this one. I know that the article may seem a little late, but I have been trying to see if anyone will support this source.
We are all fully aware that the player has been frozen out of the squad due to his unwillingness to reduce his wages. Considering that the player's contract runs until 2015 I am not surprised. Currently on just over €115k a week Inter expect him to reduce his wages to just under €77k! If he wasn't playing up to scratch I wouldn't blame Inter, but this is very cheeky!
Before we all get over excited please remember when a big name like this is linked to us before the window has even opened the chances of Levy landing him are very slim. The long and outdrawn talks would allow other clubs too much time to blast in and steal him.
VDV was a huge shock to have signed and although I am sure he will be singing our praises to Sneijder I do not think that we have the capabilities of landing him.
The likes of City, Utd and possibly Arsenal will also be in for his signature, but that does not count the likes of PSG out (who were said to be very keen) and then we cannot count any of the Russian teams out.
Let's face it money is the big factor in football nowadays and at the age of 28 I would imagine that Sneijder will be looking for another big contract and if City come sniffing around don't expect them to roll over and count themselves out.
If (and this is a big if) we could land Sneijder then potentially we have replaced not only VDV but potentially Modric in this one transaction.
Either way Levy if you manage to read this, pull out all the stops if you want to get the club back on track for a top 4. He would adapt to the Premier League a lot better than Willian or Moutinho as he has played in 2 of the biggest leagues in the world as well as the Champions League on a regular basis.
