Collymore wrong to question Spurs

Last updated : 04 June 2015 By Hoggg

What I would like to know is how Collymore feels he is justified in saying this?

Kane is under contract at Tottenham Hotspurs, not for the England U21, so why should Tottenham be the only side to be pulled in for criticism?

Playing in the U21 tournament this summer bears no help to anyone other than the U21 side itself.

I would love to understand how Collymore feels that Southgate can truly state that Kane will benefit from this cup? Kane having now played for the full squad (also given the season he has had) is only shown as a backward step if anything.

The fact that Tottenham and England U21 camp have given Kane a break is more the point. Both side are doing this for purely selfish reasons and IF the players best interests were at heart both would have given him the break.

The reason that players burn out so quickly is down to no being given the appropriate rest time and putting too much pressure on the player. Although I enjoy watching the national side in "competitive" games the national side DO NOT pay Kane's wages. For me selecting Kane in the U21 squad is a far worse disgrace than playing in the end of season tour.

I would like to see some sensible comments made by pundits and explain both sides. I have a lot of respect for pundits that have actually played football, but on this occasion Collymore needs to talk some sense to himself!
