Defoe had a poor game against Wigan before being taken off and AVB had been booed for this. But the fans have forgotten some very important key information.
We only have 2 strikers and AVB came out and stated that Defoe was his starting striker and Adebayor would be warming the bench. If we play 4-4-2 and both strikers get injured we then have no one to utilise! This cannot happen so until we have another striker we have to stick with a lone striker.
Back to Defoe and his reaction. Going back over the past 5 games, Defoe has not done his job (scoring goals). There is no striker in the world (being a lone striker) that warrants his place in a team if he is not scoring, its simple common sense!
So I feel that Defoe owes an apology to the club, staff and his fans. He cannot stomp off down the tunnel after being subbed off when he is not performing.
Simply Defoe got it COMPLETELY wrong. My opinion of him has now changed since the start of the season. Before AVB's first game I was signing Defoe's praises but now I am sick to the bone of his attitude to my club and that he happily takes my money without doing his job!
I cannot wait for the time when clubs can fine players a week’s wages (or partial wages) for consistently bad performances. Maybe then we will have true players not the pre-madonna's. Yes they argue that they deserve the ridiculous wages and I will give them that (considering the life style that they have to live in dieting and fitness etc), but they do not warrant these wages in full if they consistently under perform out on the pitch.
Defoe a message to you... Grow Up! Make sure that you play your best before sulking for being subbed on a bad performance. Show your fans some damn respect. Show your club the same and if you don't like your manager... you are paid to do a job! Do not air your dirty laundry in public. AVB supported you and its been a long time since you have had this so you owe this to AVB! Now you owe the fans and the club goals, so shut up and do what you are paid for SCORING GOALS!
