Defoe off to Toronto

However with a contract offer of £90,000 a week on a 4 year deal (reportedly) would you turn it down? Of course not (how many players at that age are handed such a large amount?).

The MLS league’s stock has been rising rapidly over the past 2 years and several large names have moved across there. One being Spurs ex striker Robbie Keane, who has scored 38 goals in 58 Appearances for LA Galaxy. He was also the league’s Top Goal Scorer for 2012 and put into the MLS top XI for 2013.

Interestingly enough Hip Hop star Drake is reported to have contacted Defoe direct (as a global ambassador for Toronto) and asked that he make the move from Tottenham to Toronto. It is a huge risk considered by many footballers and most have said that it would dampen his chances of an inclusion in the England Squad for the world cup, but I imagine that the offer is too big to turn down (if true).

Defoe would be a huge success in the U.S. and I am certain if he goes that he would soon become the league’s top goal scorer.

In all honesty though I hope that if Defoe is to be sold it is in the summer, so we can find a suitable replacement and at a good price (as we all know that January adds at least 25% onto a players price tag).
