Dempsey loss good or bad?

Last updated : 05 August 2013 By Hog

When Dempsey made his move from Fulham hours before the close of the market there was a great commotion.

Some screaming what a great signing and others screaming it was a move of desperation.

Looking at Dempsey's season I think that it speaks for itself.

Making 43 appearances for the team and scoring 12 goals, that is a good return for a midfielder. However let’s look beyond the stats, let’s look at who he scored his goals. The most notable coming against Utd. Dempsey is a player that was not affected by whom he was playing (the level of the opposition was irrelevant to him).

I think really he is one of those marmite players you love him or hate him. He was a physical player and gave his all and for that reason he will be missed by me. A Cult Hero.

Moving the squad forward it is likely to be a good thing. Paulinho and Chadli in, Soldado will shortly join them and we are still being linked with some great players.

IMHO I feel that we should of kept Dempsey as a squad player and we should be getting the likes of Livermore and Huddlestone out. I feel both the players would progress further with guaranteed football that could be offered elsewhere.

You can look at Dempsey's departure in a good or bad way, but for him I am sure it was the right move (moving back to America as the American great and getting guaranteed football).

I hope that the rest of you fans join me in thanking Dempsey for his time at the club and wishing him well for his future.
