Done Deal

PSG boss Blanc had made the announcement that Stambouli may in fact feature in PSG's game tomorrow.

Medical passed, contract agreed, £6m fee agreed and for me it's not a bad piece of business a £1.3m profit on a peripheral figure for Tottenham last season.

The reason for the prolonged announcement has not been mentioned and it certainly does not seem as if the deal stalled at any time, so it must have just been a transfer that aws not given top priority by either club.

Watford fans will be annoyed that their club did not manage to tie the deal up faster, but I still have to question that if Champions league quarter finalists (beaten by the winners) want the player in their squad what have Tottenham not picked up on?

Tottenham now have 2 seasoned central midfielders in Dembele and Eriksen, with Bentaleb, Mason and Carroll making up the other CM's within the squad (with over 1 season EPL experience). My concern is that Bentaleb is the only defensively minded midfielder in the squad. Carroll is likely to go out on loan again so with just 4 CM's I have concerns over the squad (let alone depth).

There are not a great deal of links to defensive midfielders at present and I would expect to see the links with Song resurface, maybe a bid go in for McCarthy now that the squad has a big gap, but for me I think some new links will begin to come up.

Come on Levy & Co we have made in excess of £20m now (after the Toby purchase), what else are you waiting for? Get rid of Ade and bring in the central midfield general needed and a supporting striker or competition for Kane!
