Don't move Bale upfront!

Last updated : 04 April 2013 By Hog

The quesiton is whether anyone realises the important factors?

First things first is that Dempsey is back and Ade's form is still OK. Dempsey has just became fully fit so we can't risk him, whilst Ade's form has received many complaints from the Spurs faithful.

Moving Bale inside might seem like a wise option, but the midfield will sacrifice more from this, than say playing Ade up front. Ade was unlucky not to score against Swansea and did manage to put us through to the next stage of the Europa league with his prod in against Inter. Yes he is lacking completely in confidence, but I would rather he be upfront against Basel and maybe get some confidence by getting a goal or an assist. The league is still the important thing so although in Europa I hope we win, my main focus is still on the league (if we got Ade confident we'll see a different player and better chances in the league then).

Sidetracked there!!!

Bale has to date scored more goals from outside the box than any other player in Europe's top leagues. He has 7, with Messi sitting behind on 6 and 6 other players on 5. If you move him upfront then there is a huge amount taken from our midfield (that we would miss). If Holtby was seen as the man to drop into midfield I would be happier, but AVB is not using him enough (IMHO), so I see no reason as to why to move Bale up front.

We are used to Bale playing behind his man, inevitably he will move further up field as he follows in the footsteps of Ronaldo (his always direct comparison), but for now, stick to what we know AVB and let’s not experiment again (look where is got us last time!!!)

Also a reminder for all those that are happy to do so, please vote on the below link. You can opt out of all the sales stuff, please show your support for a fellow spurs fan that wants our help:
