Entangled in the rumour web

Call my stubborn, or mad, but although little Luka has now been confirmed as a potential star set to leave there are still no guarantee's in this. However was another "gentleman's" agreement in place? Maybe Levy had said 1 more season, maybe Levy had said I'll only sell you outside the Premier League, maybe Luka did tell Levy I will sit out my contract, but do you know what...anything is possible to be quite frank.

Luka Modric (although other fans will disagree) has given us another season sacrificing his dreams to honour his contract. Now lets face it no other footballer (to my knowledge) has acted in this way for years now. Just look at Berbatov, he threw a huge hissy fit until he got his own way, but Luka was different.

Although I am not 100% certain that Luka will end up going at least if Levy shows that he is willing to negotiate and nothing comes of it, we will still have a happy Luka keeping to his contract until the next window opens and talks get under away again. AVB has stated that all parties are aware of what the other wants and seemingly as an honourable man Luka will not expect his club to allow him to go for such a small price.

It should have been obvious from Brad Friedel's interview with Talksport when pressed on Luka he stated, the club has great ambition and if Luka were to be sold it would only happen with an instant replacement already within the ranks. Basically that says no one is anywhere near what we are asking for.

Humm I think I can now smell humble pie baking in the oven with my name all over it. It seems though that nowadays even common sense is out of the window in the world of football.

I do not see this as a sign of players not seeing ambition by the appointment of AVB, but this is something that has been on the cards as much as Ronaldo leaving Utd was. It is surprising however that if Real Madrid are one of these clubs bidding that they have managed to keep quiet!

There is one thing that I do not like about this though, our club have kept quiet and allowed all these stories to break and leave it to AVB to settle and then take the barrage from the press. I did have on good authority that Luka was staying, but at the time this may have been the case, we all know how quickly things change! However it does seem that Tottenham have left the door open for bidders to creep in and talk with Luka before a price is even agreed, silly, but thats how Levy has handled it.

So do I get angry with Luka? No certainly not. He has given his all for us, no one can deny that. He has been a shining light in our team and a good example to show kids that not all footballers are greedy babies that want to play with all the toys. The facts are simple for 2 years clubs have been after Luka and Levy has let his price rise constantly to a level that he is happy to then accept, whilst in the mean time Luka has keep to his contract and played very well. In a business sense this is great. In a club sense without a replacement it is a huge mistake. I like AVB, but I am uncertain if he will bring the right player in that will replace Luka instantly.

As always its a case of crawling through the mess that we call rumours and finding the sources behind it all (to make sure its credible), well thats my job to do and report so keep your eyes peeled, if you see something I have missed please contact me and point it out.
