Let’s get the important things out there on paper a convincing win and no injuries. Hurray!
In the past 12 days we have seen 4 wins and 11 goals! Now that is some return, the team has shown its character with 4 wins and a draw following the embarrassing result at the Emirates.
We saw some good performances from Dempsey, Carroll, Walker and Adebayor. Defoe was there and when presented with the chance converted with a delightful chip past the keeper.
My true concern throughout the game was the wasteful final third opportunities (which are something I am sure that AVB will be looking at). In the first half we had some sustained pressure and great possession, but we lacked the movement and creativity that would have pushed on dramatically. I hear that Sir Les was of a similar opinion (so I can't be that far off the mark). When we sustain possession we look good and composed as does the defence, but after their goal in the second half our defence became very vulnerable.
Naughton will accept that he is fully to blame for the goal and is professional enough to press on from here, I still firmly believe that the back 4 last night was our best available option. I would like to see Naughton be more positive in going forward and more confident in his abilities as he certainly showed this at Norwich.
There are still some issues or kinks within the team, but they are slowly being ironed out.
I am sure that we will soon see a Spurs team that can dominate in midfield and sustain a high rate of the possession throughout both half’s. This in turn will see more chances created up front and give our defence the confidence and time to learn each other’s style.
Moving on up is the definite opinion it seems and as always the win is what’s important. Getting those ugly wins is what we have lacked and we seem to be getting this, so no complaints really.
