EXCLUSIVE: We aren't title contenders?

In all fairness am I expecting the team to win the league.. that’s my business, but when a player of them team comes out and says we are out of it (whether you are in it or not) it seems as if they are creating a "get out clause".

Ok no one likes Wenger and his we are still in it mentality when Arsenal are mathematically possibly still in the running (but have to score 20 goals in one game to achieve it), but you should never be defeatist.

I am not a believer in talking up a game too much (as it causes vast pressure) or of talking it down (as it removes all pressure completely).

Redkanpp did it well and always said yes we're still in it, but AVB will not be dragged into these pointless conversation's (which I also like). Players and staff must concentrate on what the important things are. Yes we are playing well or no we're not, the rest will follow.

I do not believe that Vertonghen has the right to give the team an escape clause at almost the half way point. What happens if all results went our way over the next 6 games (potentially we could be top), but without any pressure the players do not rise to the occasion or expectation.

Realistic milestones are needed for the club. Top 4 is realistic and Semi in the Europa is realistic, but I would never come out and state we are not in the running and to forget it. Implying it and clearly stating it are 2 different things.

I'd like to think that the players regarded themselves, the staff and club higher than this.

Either way I think we are seeing a different team now and hopefully another good result against Everton will show our turn around. It will be a difficult game at Goodison, but I feel we can edge it!

Sorry getting ahead of myself there as we play Fulham next and that is not as hard as Everton away, but still a difficult game if our players do not start at the right pace.

Come on you Spurs!!!
