From the bottom to the top

However fast forward to now and Dawson seem’s to be one of the first names on the sheet.

Following his injury Gallas had been installed, only to show his age and cause huge concern at the back. Since Vertonghen's arrival you could forgive a lot of fans for forgetting the one man that we know we can always count.

Upon Dawson’s return people were quick to point out that we had won more games without him and that we concede less goals. However looking at the most recent results you could not see how we could do without him.

When our club captain had been linked with a move to QPR and then to have the deal pretty much wrapped up (according to reports), I was left scratching my head. Looking back at the times of Dawson and King we had an unstoppable partnership, but it took time to blossom. As it has with Vertonghen and Dawson.

Although Dawson is not our most technically gifted defender he bleeds white and blue and gives it his all, only issue with Dawson is when he doesn't play alongside a great defender.

I for one am glad that Dawson snubbed QPR and pushed on, I am more glad that AVB thought that Dawson did have what it takes. It is a great selection issue to have as when Kaboul is back we have 2 sets of defenders that many premier league teams would want Kaboul & Caulker or Dawson & Vertonghen (or any combination in that).

Also lets not forget that signing Fryers now means we have 2 left backs (him and Benni) and also Walker/ Naughton on the right. The team is getting so close now to being perfect, the manager is great, what more could we ask for (other than a creative midfielder and striker that we are in desperate need for)?

With a big game today I hope that all the lads are on their best and although I would love a win, I see a 1-1 draw coming.
