Gareth seeks improvement with Spurs!!!

Last updated : 10 May 2013 By Hog

Gareth along with his manager has insisted that he is happy at the club, but now a further thing statement has been added to put this all in concrete.

In his latest interview he goes on to talk about the "their" future, him and the club.

We all know that he has just signed a new deal with BT which means that he is not leaving the club, but when pressed about a move its always Real Madrid. So this signalled at the time the Gareth was not going anywhere come the summer.

However due to his sensational season and being rewarded with all three annual rewards (that a professional player can get), it is no surprise that people have started some rumours.

Real "Tap'em Up" Madrid have been trying their underhanded and sneaky best in their attempts to turn his head, but thankfully Gareth has a lot more class and integrity. He has always admitted that it is all rumours and he will continue to concentrate on his football.

Being a Spurs fan we cannot help but think it could all be smoke and mirrors (which is down to one Sol Campbell), however with interview after interview stating that he is happy you have to come to realise that he is not leaving.

So again here are further comments from Gareth that he is intent on staying for the immediate future;

"At the end of the day, I want to play at the highest level possible and be playing against the best teams in the world, but the club is going in the right direction, all our objectives are the same, we just have to try and achieve them now.

"We've had a taste of Champions League football and that's where we want to be again. That's where the club needs to be to get to the next level and what we've been trying to do this season to lift the club to better things.

"Since I came here, everything has changed. When I first arrived there was talk of a new training ground and a new stadium. As the years have gone in, it's got better and better.

"The training ground has happened and next it will be the stadium. The club is growing and I think it's growing within its own means. The club is bringing in better players every season. We're all of a similar age, around our mid-20s.

"We've got a good, firm base, which is always important for a club like Tottenham and I'm sure we'll bring a few more players in this summer. We're heading in the right direction. Hopefully there is still a lot more to come."

"Every season I've improved on the season before. It's just another natural progression," he said. "I'm on an upward slope and I hopefully I can keep improving. I've just started a new position and there's still a lot to be learned there.

"That means scoring more goals. More with my right, more with my left. That's the target for even the best players. If you look at (Lionel) Messi, he scores more goals than he has any other year. (Cristiano) Ronaldo is the same.

"There is still plenty more to improve. I just have to keep my focus at this level and take it up further. I believe I've been able to motivate myself and make myself a better player."

It’s easy to get caught up in the stories printed by the papers as many assume if its printed it has to be true right? Wrong the papers must sell stories and Bale going is a big story. But Bale staying is just as big! Bale is the biggest thing to come out of Premier League in some time so him staying in the league is important news. The papers will continue to come out with stories and the likes of "Tap'em Up" Madrid will release loads of statements saying they want him and will pay BIG money in hope that it will turn his and the club’s head. When it comes down to it in the summer Gareth will be signing another contract, but there will be clauses (such as Champions League Qualification) and with such clauses in your best players contract you know you have to concede that to keep him you have to spend money, so all will point to good things for him.

Anyway we may still get Champions League this season and AVB & Co. are all pumped and ready to push on. Remember Arsenal and Chelsea have a far worse run in than us, so there is still every chance that this is still a year to end with us in the Top 4.

Next season will be Gareth's best yet and I agree with what he and AVB say. So IF we fail to qualify this year yes its bad, but AVB has shown what he is capable of with little extra money pumped into transfers, so Levy knows he made the right choice and will be supporting him fully come the summer.

So fellow Spurs fans listen to the statements from AVB and the player himself, expect to see Gareth at The Lane next season and expect to see some fresh names come in to make you realise the clubs intent on fulfilling its long term ambition.
