Kane to play U21's

Ok firstly there is a contract between Sydney FC and Tottenham for their match at the end of May (supposedly). If this was the case then It is unlikely that Kane would feature at the beginning of the event.

Kane has played 44 games this season, the most he has ever played. There is a further 9 official games left for Kane to take part in (including tomorrows England game), which would make 53 games. That is a tall ask for any player let alone the first full season where he has taken part in one of the worlds toughest leagues and the European League!

So what are the benefits to Kane of playing in the Euro's?

This would be the first major competition that Kane will have taken part in since finding his feet as the League's top goalscorer. However its not the first major tournament he has played in. Having now played at every level for his country and all bar the Champions League I cannot understand how or why it is suggested that Kane would benefit from this competition. It seems a very selfish decision by the England set up and a highly unfair one. We moan that there is not enough talent coming through England, well put more on the national stage seems as clubs will not support it! Kane so far has proven that he has in fact out grown the U21's, scoring in under 80 seconds for the seniors and 29 goals for Tottenham this season screams that U21 will not help Kane to grow at all.

In order to perform at the highest levels players must push themselves and with Kane's goal scoring record in the league and for Spurs in general he must now be given the chance to push himself.

Looking at Kane's loan's in the past he did not become the goal scorer he is today in each loan move. It helped to form his style and play in who he is today, but it was not until he was thrust into the starting line up in the Tottenham Senior team  that he began to show dramatic progression.

Southgate has made no effort to explain how or why Kane would beenfit from the competition, but simply states that he and Hodgson agree he should play.

The decision will in fact come down to Kane and Tottenham, but I feel that Southgate must be realistic and look out for the player here. He has to realise that a rest is what Kane will need coming into the summer break and with a contract to Spurs they should not force him to miss time with his team purely for selfish reasons. Give the other young players an opportunity as that is what the youth setup's are about right?
