Kyle Walker believes in Ade, should we?

Yesterday Kyle Walker came out in support of Adebayor and believes the striker should be given a chance to prove his worth.

“He is a fantastic player and he trains really hard,” Walker said. “It’s not up to me to decide whether he plays or not: that is a decision for the manager. But we’re fully behind him and the manager.

“You don’t play for Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid if you’re not a decent player."

Ok so forget what the players think, let’s think about it logically

Ade can be used as a target man, he CAN link up well if his heart is in it. In the squad we do not have another striker that can be used in this way. We have all seen what Ade is capable of and he is an enigma. He is likely to want to leave if he is to continue to play for his country (they will not want him to play if he's not match fit), so he will have to showcase his talents at some point.

It is all about trying to get his qualities out of him. It's not just the goal scoring threat he can provide, but also the assists that we know he can notch up. So if the players want him in are we missing a trick?

I for one have to support each and every one of our players and as a fan you should too. Yes he is on a large wage and refusing to leave, but I am sure there is something we can invoke as a club for a player that refuses to leave and is not playing at all. Yes it could be blamed on the manager for not playing him, but football is crazy so who knows what we could do (plus with someone like Levy you never know).

So we are left with a very capable player that is not liked by AVB, they haven’t got on from the the start (remember AVB did not want Ade in the first place, but the deal with City was already done). AVB is a coach that I fully trust and maybe there is a reason for not including, but we are now in a position where his presence COULD be a blessing in disguise.

Soldado and Defoe are very similar players, but neither has got the service needed. If we have someone in the box (target man) that we can put the high crosses into we could see a change in our game (which is desperately needed).

As the team settles and begins to take shape we MAY need this support. We can sit there and moan as fans that we aren't scoring enough, but we have a midfield that has 3 new faces. Paulinho, Townsend and Holtby. You can say that two of those are not new, but they have rarely played in the first team to be able to settle in. Lennon has just come back form long-term injury, as has Sandro. So to me we have a very unsettled midfield striving to find their feet, the long ball to a target man could be the breathing space needed.

So no matter if we put Defoe in for Soldado we will not see more goals, this was very apparent when Defoe was started against West Ham. We no longer have a player that can pull a goal out from nowhere and from anywhere, so we have to work as a team.

We are defending well, so it’s about the forward link up now.

Soldado is my first choice, but we cannot have 2 identical players in the match day squad and expect one to come on and make an impact if the other coming off is struggling (a change of tactics are needed).

An opportune time is here for us to test Ade. Let him start against Sheriff, let's all get behind him and see if he is willing to fight for his reputation. There is no point in paying him whilst he takes up a squad number. Utilise him or cut our losses and realise it was a mistake.

So I put it to the floor. Come on genuine fans forget the, if he plays well is he a worthy option to have on the bench?
