Lamela has turned the corner

Fast forward 3 months and the story could not be any more different.

He is creating 3.4 chances each game, which puts Erik in the leagues top 10 most creative players, 3.1 tackles and 1.4 interceptions a game (the highest for our attacking midfielders) and against Villa no player covered more ground than the Argentine.

All this points to the turning of a corner. He’s already scored 2 goals and 3 assist that means the players is involved in a goal every 2 games (as he has 10 appearances)!

In the Europa League his form is much higher with 2 goals in 3 matches.

His team mates are loving his rich form and Kane has come out saying:

“He worked hard for the team up and down the pitch”

MoPo said at the beginning of the season that Lamela must perform and the 23 year old has not disappointed.

He is yet to be as consistent as fans want, which was shown in the Villa game. Many fans were frustrated with the Argentine’s performance until the last 20 or so minutes. He held up the ball very well, allowing Spurs to steady themselves and then setup Kane to ensure that Spurs came away with all 3 points (despite a late Villa fight back).

Does this mean that he can be relied upon as a match winner….not quite yet but if he continues to improve by the second half of the season expect to see him become a bigger player for Spurs.
