However as with the Chadli and Soldado reports things are coming out as a deal is close to being agreed.
We had held talks with Lyon in January for the striker but we choose to wait until the summer to conclude the deal.
This is not a deal seen as a backup for Soldado, but rather in addition. Reports are starting to break that we are in talks and with Lyon and Lopez has stated his desire to leave and having spoke with Lloris he is now keen to move to WHL.
As the striker has just one year left on his contract (not up this summer as rumored) the club is keen to get something for him rather than allow him to leave for free.
Last season the player's heart had dropped out of playing for Lyon (as he had made it clear he wished to leave) and this reflected in his goal tally of 14 goals in 39 appearances. So this will also reflect on his price which if talks are right £8million (plus add-ons).
The striker is by no means a small catch, I must remind all fans that the only reason that Lopez has only managed 7 international caps is due to the competition he is faced with in the team (Aguero, Tevez and of course Messi).
If we tie up this deal as expected it will be a great addition to our striker force of JD and hopefully Soldado.
