As each day goes on I wonder what I will see next in one of the most outdrawn transfers of our clubs history.
Luka has been set to leave for the past 18 months (in reality) and when there are no updates the rumours start to fly in. The bulk of the articles had stated that Luka had agreed terms and a fee was agreed in the reign of£35million and then it goes quiet (other than people re-publishing the same information).
However yesterday there was something new, supposedly now the deal has fallen apart and Luka is set to come into the squad for training? AS in Spain had jumped the gun and based their reporting (supposedly) on the fact that Luka Modric was not in any of the new kit pictures, but yet I have seen the pics and all of us have on the website. Bizarre?
If this is the case I hope someone is for the chop on making such a ridiculous statement.
Moving on though the plot thickens again with the Metro reporting that Levy and Co are now asking for Karim Benzema to be included in any deal! Now I cannot see why anyone would think that the Real Madrid forward that has begun to find his feet (32 goals and 15 assists the previous season) and settled in, would now move from the La Liga Champions to White Hart Lane?
The issue with the Luka transfer is that nothing has been agreed, the negotiations have not stopped either however. I see that even now there are rumours that theres only €2million that is stopping the deal, but where has that information come from. Journalists and individuals are getting bored with the lack of communication.
Don't expect to see anything tied up too soon, we all know how Levy is for negotiating and turning down £40million last year I cannot see Levy rolling over easily on £35million.
If Levy is confident there's nothing to keep Luka here I know that he will broker the best deal for the club, but talk of Benzema, Higuain, Sahin, etc is not going to happen!
I have my ear firmly to the ground and as it stands there is no change in the information I had got originally in that Luka was staying (it may be that this is the case at present, but purley as no fee has been agreed).
