I was shocked at just how good the boy looked on paper, but I also manage to get hold of some games to watch. The guy was impressive then and since his move to the EPL (now that he is at WBA) I can say he is a definite player to have in your team.
Stumbling block may be that AVB and him are not best of buddies, but would that stop a move?
At Chelsea Lukaku is not highly regarded and will likely look to sell the player on this summer (as they look to raise funds for another spending spree).
With 14 starts (27 appearances overall) this season and 13 goals to his name I am certainly impressed. He has shown that he is more than capable of adapting his success to the EPL.
Chelsea initially paid £10million for him (not including add on's) so I would imagine Chelsea will accept something around this price tag (but they will not be expecting to lose anything).
WBA will be wanting to keep him and Lukaku himself had said before January that he would like to stay (even now he is coy on his Chelsea future). There is a good relation between Clarke and Chelsea so I expect if he is available that we will have to pay a premium for the player, but I think that he is one that we should seriously consider.
Although many see Lukaku as a target man he is very quick and we have seen a few goals this season come from him picking the ball up deep and running past several players to put the ball in the back of the net. He has great aerial ability, control and a hell of a shot, so surely its worth a pop?
I do not think that an approach for him means we do not have to push for a top rated striker I still would and keep Defoe. If Ade improves then we would have 4 capable strikers.
Thoughts on Lukaku then. Would you have him in the squad? Is he worth £10-12million? My thoughts are yes and yes!
