Last night a large group of Tottenham fans (approximately 150) were attacked whilst drinking in the Smoking Dog Pub by 50 masked Lyon fans.
Thankfully this time there was only minor injuries sustained by a few fans, but you have to ask what will UEFA and FIFA do to punish the club. The likely hood is UEFA will do nothing as it is a French club and for similar reason FIFA will not get involved.
At a time of such madness you would expect for the President of Lyon Aulas to get in front of the camera to offer those fans an apology on behalf of the club and wish them well. I am once again left disgusted that he does not make the right choice for publically speaking again. Maybe it is to do with the racist remarks he made toward the English that had made the fans feel it is acceptable, maybe it is that he accused Bale of cheating or the ref or being favourable toward AVB that has caused this. A person in power should never abuse their position and for this I have a very bad opinion of Aulas and Lyon as a club. An apology is expected.
On a flip side I think that Lyon have done themselves no favours as this sort of act by Aulas and the fans will have stirred and angered the players. Expect to see retribution on the pitch, in footballing terms of course!
