Not a great night, but we're through

Seeing your team lose 4-1 is never a good time, but it’s confusing when you still manage to go through.

Last night (like I am sure the rest of you did) I was a bit dazed and confused come the final whistle. I cheered, but it was not a crazy jog with the clothes off (not a bad sight ladies haha).

The first leg we could and should have scored more. However this victory gave AVB and the lads the wrong end of the stick. We were far too confident passing the ball around and playing keep ball without making any real effort on goal. Inter were never going to sit there and endure that slap in the face. I feel that even with an under strengthened side we should have kept with a strong squad and not played the likes of Livermore.

I am not going to sit here and moan at particular players and what they did wrong it is a team game and as a team they did not play well enough and the tactics were wrong.

The good to come from this is that we had not learnt from this mistake against Liverpool and now with a proper thrashing last night we will have a long hard look and think about it all. We cannot ignore last night’s result in our tactics and training.

Looking forward though we have gone through and confidence will have dipped back up ready for the game against Fulham (as we went through). Sunday will be a good sign of where we will be, come the end of the season. Importantly it’s whether we have the mentality to stay strong and bounce back well.

Another mention on our competition in conjunction with ICONS.com. With Bale playing so well this prize is not only something to hang on your wall but its also an investment. We have had hundreds of entrances and the competition will be running until 29th March so make sure that if you haven't entered that you do below;
