Our swiss melt down

Last updated : 05 April 2013 By Hog

We have a short history against underperforming with the Swiss teams and I am surprised to have seen that we completely underestimated our opposition again last night. I ask what prep work was done on Basel if any?

We allowed them the time on the ball, we allowed them to open the space up for their players, but worst of all we allowed them to easily create the opportunities.

I have a very long list of mistakes from last night and there are some culprits that came up often, but I am not going to say it (except for one person).

The players know when you underestimate the "underdogs" they are likely to bite and what a hell of a bite it was.

I still am gobsmacked as to how last night panned out. Lennon should never have been risked for the game nursing an injury (let's hope it was routine in taking him off and not an aggravation). Gallas pulling himself off with 10 minutes left was an absolute disgrace! He knew we did not have any further substitutions and there was 10 minutes left including the added injury time, so why in god’s name did he feel that he could justify pulling himself off and to then causally walk down the tunnel (as if he wasn't even injured)! It will take a lot to in fact anger me as much as I was with Gallas last night, but whether you are injured I have never known a player to act as Gallas did. To cut it short he didn't like how the game panned out and walked off. I don't know about the rest of you but he owes us all and Gareth a BIG explanation.

So if you haven't noticed yes I believe that Gallas's actions had a knock on affect to Bale then getting himself injured. Gallas could have hobbled around injured up front and Ade could have slotted in at CB as we know he can hit a ball around the goal (ha-ha). No it was a travesty to watch that disrespectful behaviour (he spat his dummie out in our faces last night). To think Samba apologised on Twitter due to his poor performance, but to walk off (supposedly injured) and to leave us a man down, well we deserve to get a refund on his weekly wage!

Ok positives after that BIG rant! Siggy scored a great goal and Ade has now got 2 in 2 for us (in Europe). I don’t care what people have to say about Ade, he helped obtain a draw last night and got us through in the last round so all you supposed supporters stop your windging! I remember a Shaun Goater who seemed a poor performer but he got goals and the city fans loved him for it. Ade has got 2 in 2 in Europe and was very close against Swansea, but still it’s not enough. I don’t care how much the guys earns its none of my business, but he is now showing some return on his money so that’s all I care about. Have some respect Spurs fan, for your club. You want someone to place blame on look at Gallas AGAIN!

Holtby although looking a little out of place on the left combined well at times and was very unlucky not to score against Basel, even more unfortunate was Parkers shot that hit Holtby's boot and went wide. We must be more clinical, but most important we must not sit back and think that Bale will get us out of the bad position.

Ok... so is it a lesson learnt? I would like to think so but this has happened a few times now. Let's put that appalling performance behind us and think about pushing the lads on cause they will certainly be needing it against Everton and it can start with Ade thanks people!

Also a reminder for all those that are happy to do so, please vote on the below link. You can opt out of all the sales stuff, please show your support for a fellow spurs fan that wants our help:
