I had predicted a 3-1 win for us and to be honest I don't count the penalty, so I'm chalking that up as another correct prediction! No I'm not really as in all fairness someone had predicted 7-2 and it could have easily have been that. Bale should have had a hat-trick minimum, as should Caulker and add that to Sigurdsson's goal we have 7.
It was a great game to watch one minute I am jumping for joy and the next I am screaming how poor our defence was. A typical fan I know. When it comes down to it though we could do no better!
It was another game that saw the spot light fall onto our sublime Bale and I have to say that I still can't believe my eyes! 19 goals in total 15 coming in the EPL (he has scored in everything competition). Only 31 appearances this year and our little wizard has almost hit the 20 mark! Ok lets not forget that JD also has 14 so essentially we now have two 20 goal a season men and that’s a massive improvement.
There were some notable errors and fans certainly picked up on Vertonghen (however it is his first season and overall he's done great). My main concern is still the fans hatred of Adebayor. Ok we moan that his touch has been terrible, however it was his bustling that lead to the ball finding its way to Gareth for the 1st goal. It was then Adebayor's clever air kick decoy (joking) that led to Sigurdssons goal. Although he is struggling to replicate his form from last season he is still actually playing a part. If the goals that he missed weren’t a clear enough indication of how low his confidence is I don't know what is. So I am asking all you fans to give the guy a break. We need ALL our players feeling confident. Imagine if all our players had the confidence that Gareth did at the moment!
Another key part to point out last night was the involvement of Sigurdsson, he hit the post and scored our second. Maybe this is something that he can build on like Dempsey did when he had a run of scoring for a few games! I had not rated the midfielder since his arrival, but last night was a game changer for me (but only if he builds on it).
My final mention goes to our purchase of the season Hugo Lloris! He has not had his praises sung enough as Gareth has stolen all the limelight. Hugo has guarded our goal with the presence of a true world champion. Had it not been for Howard Webb's stupidity and some tighter marking by our defence we would have seen save after save and another clean sheet.
Ok so yes there are chinks in our armour, but there is for all the other teams (difference is that our chinks are getting smaller). We are one of 2 teams to beat Utd in 2013 and the first time to do it in years (so we can't be that bad?). Many results have shocked us this season, but the most impressive thing is that we have changed our fortunes from a team to lose late on to a team that win's it in the dying minutes. Forget Fergie Time it’s Bale Time.
My confidence is the highest it has been for years and it is thanks to Levy for bringing in AVB and it’s thanks to AVB's tactical judgement for each game. Just as important it’s down to the players. Many of the lads are really showing their worth.
This is the best setup we have seen at White Hart Lane for years. Yes there is still stuff to moan about, but we fans seem unhappy if there is nothing to moan about? Our youth team is producing some great players, the first team has all the qualities you'd expect in league contenders and we are soon to hear the announcement of the tender for our new stadium.
Even if things drop a little (and we finish 4th) it’s still a massive victory! And to all those Arsenal fans that I know will be reading this yes we are desperate to finish above you and yes when we do you’ll say it’s a one off, but we don’t care! All that matters is we have closed every gap between our teams and not one Arsenal player can say they have a player of Bale’s quality, it shows that only Van Persie has won his team more points than Bale so it’s a point proven.
Lets keep singing and cheering ALL the players on and make sure that we are not the ones to damage our own hopes by causing the players heads to drop.
