Ok Bale is now on 19 goals in the Premier League and 24 for the season. This is why I thought it be best to remind all the fans just how long ago it was since we had a player banging them in .
Jurgen Klinsmann was the last player in 94-95 to achieve 20 league goals in a season. Gary Lineker was the last player to score more than 30 goals in a season back in 91-92. This shows just how hard it has been to find that “special” one.
Ok Bale is not a forward and we need to remember that, however Ade came close last season with 17 league goals and JD even closer with 18 goals in 09-10 season. But the fact remains the same we have struggled to find that one person who we know can be relied upon.
I didn't realise that it was 18 years ago since we had a dependable goal scorer, which really highlights again and again that we have always found it difficult to get that fox in the box.
So we are all aware going back over the past 40 odd years Clive Allen is the man to beat with 49 goals in the 86-87 season. Is Bale there yet? Not quite but If he can stay fit for a season we could see a different story.
