Sherwood blinded by result

I do not! I was questioning the teams character/ mentality right the way up until Ade's 1st goal.

How is it that the team are deemed to have good character when they failed to score, the midfield had bite from Sandro defensively, but going forward there was no or little organisation.

Following this article going live I expect to hear the "Why are you so negative", however we were not really in the game until Zozulya was sent off. It was then that the team suddenly woke up.

Lennon should have come on for Dembele and Eriksen moved into the middle (HIS NATURAL POSITION), but instead Dembele was kept on!

Why is it that the team do not show the right character until something major happens. Like conceding a goal or the opposition going a man down.

Having Sandro back was great last night and we could really see he made a difference, however Townsend was nonexistent for most of the match, Dembele did his usual head down get past as many players as you can and then look up as you're about to lose the ball. Eriksen is not a left winger, so why expect a great central player to perform well out there.

Yes I am happy that we won, but they way in which we won was unacceptable. If we play like that against Benfica we will be looking at an embarrassing loss! 3-1 may look like a good score, but we are failing to get those balls into the box on a regular basis (for our strikers to score the needed goals).

The one thing that is an absolute positive to take was that Ade again is scoring, but they are good goals.

The biggest confusion of the night for me was taking Soldado off. If there was one thing that would have happened was he would have scored. We were in a great position, the players were working quite well to craft an opportunity for him and it was only a matter of time. Actually I thought Fryers looked good too.

But the same issues are being ignored time and time again. Sherwood is not playing the right players in the right position and this is causing the issue. Build the team around a skeleton. Dembele should be dropped to follow suit with his recent form (Bentaleb was), then put Eriksen alongside Sandro in the middle. This balances attack with defence. Lennon on the right and Townsend on the left (or vice versa) and we have a good looking midfield. Soldado and Ade can play up front together and we have a player to hold up and a player to get in the box.

WHAT MORE DO WE NEED, HOW SIMPLE IS THAT?

I don't expect miracles from Spurs, but I do expect them to beat teams like Dnipro and Norwich. No offense to Dnipro as when they weren't throwing themselves on the floor or wasting time clutching to something they played well.

Sherwood and the team's character are not right still and it will show against Cardiff on Sunday if it doesn't change. As I said yesterday last night was a must win and Sunday is a must win, but they are only for building confidence for Chelsea, followed by Arsenal! However with how the team played last night it is still not going to build confidence as it was lucky.

To Sherwood sort out your team, play the players that deserve their place and to the players, pull your fingers out before the game not after conceding!

COYS!!!
