Soldado: I'm not 100%

In an interview with Spurs TV Soldado has spoken of his arrival at the Lane and that he is not quite 100% yet.

‘I have scored six goals but I would like to score many more,' Soldado said. 'I am a realist and I know that on the pitch I am not happy with everything.

'I am not combining with my team-mates how I would like but I know I am very close.

‘I'm striving to get to top form and play at 100 per cent. I am convinced that I am almost there.

‘I don't want to stop scoring goals, that's why Tottenham signed me. I'm not 100 per cent but the manager has put his faith in me end he is giving me minutes. Scoring more goals for this team is my target.

‘I have scored decisive goals that have won matches, they might have been penalties, but I want more and the manager wants more and that is what I want to give to the fans.’

Many fans have grown impatient with the forward and had been demanding for the inclusion of Defoe, however this has not seen the goals increase when he did.

In Defoe's last full game he played against West Ham (which was by far the most embarassing result of the season), this game saw a pitiful 10 points being scored in the Squawka performance system.

However if we go back over the past 5 games Soldado has not performed much better. In the recent game against Newcastle Soldado managed just 6 points, -19 points against Everton, 23 against Hull 47 against Villa and 0 points against Chelsea.

As you will see our striker’s points are not tallying up. Soldado is still finding his feet, but yet AVB feels that he is the striker to lead the line. What I wish to point out is that whether we have Soldado or Defoe neither are scoring well and it is the same old story as to why.

Our midfield is not linking up with the forward(s) as they should. It has not been a problem for a short period, but in fact goes back into last season. As a team we had heavily relied upon Gareth Bale and it is now that the extend shows.

We cannot continue to blame just the forwards, should we be blaming the midfield? We could blame AVB, but what is apparent is that the players are not performing or responding to the tactics that have been laid out by AVB.

For the past 4 games we have failed to break the 300 point mark and in the game against West Ham we failed to break 100 points.

The blame firmly lies within the club and both players and manager must take the blame (not just one party). If AVB's tactics are that bad he would not have won the Europa league, let alone the Portugese league! With the players we have we should expect much better performances (whether they agree with the tactics or not).

The players have not playing to the best of their ability in their given tactics and the manager is not tailoring his tactics to suit the players, so we have a Mexican stand off.

We all expect more from Soldado in short and we know what he is capable of, but if he is not flourishing under the tactics it is abundantly clear that he is not the man to suit AVB or AVB must begin to tailor things.

Are fans really so narrow minded that they do not see the problems with our players as well as the tactics?
