Soldado Update

Last updated : 23 July 2013 By Hoggg

Baldini was only due to meet up with officials from Valencia and Soldado's agent. It was not to complete a deal (as there is still much to talk about).

Tottenham were in talks with Soldado last season and the striker made it clear that he would be happy to move to play in the Premier League. We were also in talks with Valencia, but at the time they were reluctant to let him leave and asked to pick this up this summer.

Unfortunately Baldini was only able to commit a small amount of time to pick from where the club had left off from last season, before returning to other commitments. Our DOF is to now report directly back to Levy following his talks with Valencia.

Essentially the trip was to see if there were changes with Soldado himself and to see what is possible with Valencia (but face to face). Baldini was not authorised to conclude a deal with Valencia without further talks with Levy. This may seem like a wasted trip, but the face to face appearance will go a long with both parties.

A tentative offer of £18million plus add on's were discussed, but Valencia have countered (as even with the add on’s we have not met his clause). As time is of the essence with other deal's Baldini will have to wait for further actions from Levy before we can move forward to conclude the deal.

As you can imagine this will be our largest outlay for one player in our history and Levy will be attempting to get the price down on physical cash and up on add-ons. As Valencia wish for the release fee to be meet without add-on’s there is still much for Levy and Baldini to sort (mainly how the payment will be made).

Forget all of the other reports; its not dead, it’s still very much on and if Liverpool squeeze in it will only speed up our process (as we will be left with no choice but to act fast).

Let's see how this one pans out over the next 24 hours Spurs fans.
