Spurs forward line is improving, but sits 10th!

Soldado sits 10th in Squawka's Top 20 Premier League forwards, however there’s only 8 points between 10th and 7th, it’s easy enough for him to jump up the ranks.

Soldado has now scored 3 goals in 8 appearances and 2 assists, meaning that he either scores or assists at a ratio of 0.625 a game (better than something every other game). Looking at the stats from that side it is not a bad return at all.

The player continues to improve and his link up play with Holtby at times against Villa was superb. You have to wonder if it would have been better with Eriksen?

Comparing him to Defoe's great start last season it may not seem fantastic, but Soldado is building his confidence and history has shown that he is a consistent player. I for one would be shocked if he didn't achieve at least 15 league goals this season.

I had predicted that Soldado would score against Villa, but this was not based on anything other than the fact that his presence and style is being learnt by the team, his confidence is growing and all of this was going to start to show.

With how Soldado scored against Villa it is a sign of things to come for sure. A bit more support from midfield will mean he does not have to drop too often and can stay in the box for Townsends runs and Eriksens defence splitting passes.

Bear in mind readers Soldado has just come into the league. Drogba did not settle for an entire season. RVP took seasons to show his true abilities (may be due to fitness, but it still took a while). A striker of true world class ability will score in any league and Soldado has begun to show that he can continue his goalscoring ability and best of all in his first season.

We should expect a lot from the forward (given his transfer fee), but we must give him the time to settle properly. If there is one thing that the English has too much of, it's pressure. Although you may argue that players are paid enough to compensate, but its more about the team.

Wait and see fellow fans, Soldado is just getting started!
