AVB is a fan of young talent and building teams, to sign players over 30 doesn't seem like our Gaffa's style.
Lopez is reportedly out of contract come the end of the season and although we can get him on a free, there is a striker within Lyon\s ranks that I would prefer that would also be on a free.
I had reported in January that we were looking at Lopez and for a Jan swoop to patch up the strike force it would have been a great and cheap option. However it is reported that Lyon pulled the plug on the deal, but you can understand why (they want to try and keep their players at Lyon, if they loan them out they'll want to leave).
Lopez is a great player and would be a great addition to many of the top teams in the EPL, however as mentioned there is a better option that will be available on a free. Gomis is one of the top goal scorers in Ligue 1, younger than Lopez and has the physique that suits the English game.
As always though I am afraid these are all rumours generated by the journalists that only have a link of Tottenham playing Lyon in the Europa League. I think we'll see different targets come out in the summer and I am doubtful that we will look to sign either of the players.
On a positive note I am sure there will be some big targets looking to come once we secure our second season in the champions league.
