Spurs in the FINAL!!!

Last updated : 14 May 2013 By Hog

It was a very dramatic late goal by Obika that in typical Spurs style won us the game to book our slot in the U21 Premier League Final.

The lads will be up against Man Utd or Liverpool who play tonight. The youth team won both National Group 2 and their Elite group on their way to the final and it is truly a testament to the lads and the staff's ability and hunger. Although the date is yet to be confirmed we know that it will be an away match for us.

Here's the squads from yesterday's game;

Spurs U21s (4-3-3): Archer; Fredericks (Barthram, 56), Hall, Stewart, Fryers; Bentaleb (Gallifuoco, 90), Carroll, Veljkovic; Pritchard (McEvoy, 76), Obika, Ceballos. Unused subs: Miles, Nicholson.

Everton (4-2-3-1): Mucha; Stokes, Duffy, Browning, Garbutt; Lundstram, Grant (Waring, 90); Long, Barkley, Kennedy (Duffus, 18); McAleny. Unused subs: Springthorpe, Duffus, Green, Pennington.

The much talked about Alex Pritchard opened it on the 11th minute following a poor headed back pass by Stokes. Pritchard did enough to squeeze home with Mucha unable to anything to stop it. The goal was started by great work from Carroll.

Everton Levelled in the dying moments of the first half following a free kick from Stokes and McAleny with a great turn to fire in low from 12 yards.

Into the second half and Stokes again with a mistake losing possession to Obika who slotted in a composed second goal to take Spurs into the lead.

Stokes was in no mood to go down lightly and redeemed himself again with a cross to Long who controlled the ball and neatly hooked the ball over his and our keeper’s (Archer) head to level the score again.

Everton then went on to dominate for a spell and Long hit the post from the right side.

We then turned the game back around and again Obika was denied by some quick thinking of Mucha seeing the ball diverted away from danger. 11 minutes left and Everton came back strong with Garbutt heading just wide.

Obika again coming close from a McEvoy cross but was unable to keep it on target. However in typical Spurs style Obika secured the victory connecting with a Ceballos cross to head the ball into the corner.

It has been a long season for the U21's and throughout they have received rave reviews for their hard work.

Congrats lads bring on the final!
