Spurs Summer In Full Swing

Last updated : 19 May 2015 By Hoggg

With the season coming to a close this weekend it is no surprise that the papers started the rumour mill turning weeks ago. The same rumours have come up as they did last year.

  • Lloris is leaving
  • A new striker is being signed
  • Star players set to leave (Eriksen, Kane and Lloris)
  • An exodus of drift wood
  • Levy will support MoPo

In order to move forward let's look at what happened last time. All the stars (including Lloris stayed), no new striker was signed, there was not an exodus of fringe players and Levy did not support MoPo.

The change the will supposedly follow this year is that Levy has announced that MoPo will be supported. However he contradicts himself as he states that Spurs will not spend big (worded that we will not break FIFA Fair Play Rules, which are a load of rubbish and any club allowed to get away with it).

For me the issue remains the same since Spurs had their cameo in the CL. Money has been spent, unwisely and at the wrong times. Players were bought and then wasted (as the managers refused to play to their strengths). Investment has never been made in January as Levy does not believe in it (he shows GREAT naivety on this considering his intelligence level).

As we have all seen money does not need to be spent, a new team can be brought in with strategic loans and free agents, but it seems that this is not adhered to.

For me I hope that this summer Spurs actually stop and think. If they have say £40million overall to spend (don't spent it all in the summer) save some for January as it is ALWAYS needed! I will never forgive Levy for missing out on signing Hazard as it was a stupid decision that cost us dearly at the time and the player has gone on to be one of the best players in the world. It's important players like this that we have to be hell bent on getting. So this means doing your homework and getting on these players before the world knows about them.

This is why our scouts are being let go and Paul Mitchell will be allowed to bring his own team in. He has a proven track record. Saints team from this year and the previous was all down to Paul and his team. Both seasons have shown just how good a job was done.

This also highlights why levy poached him, he finds players, make sure they fit and does it for a cut price. If you look at the track record of his predecessors, over spent, players don't fit into managers plans or tactics and some of it was panic buying (Chadli, Chiriches and Fazio).

It may be summer but the club has a LOT of work from transfer, training and tactics. I don't want to see too many players taking 3 week holidays! All bar Kane and Lloris, they deserve a good break.
