Spurs week almost rock bottom

Last night was another embarrassing time if you are a Tottenham fan. However I am surprised as to how much is put onto Soldado and not the TEAM, seems as this is a team sport.

Firstly many people have agreed that it was a reasonable game for the likes of Davies, Chirches and Lamela In all honesty I did not see them create any horrendeous mistakes and played well in their roles. Lloris again must be left scratching his head as to how things went from a draw that could go either way to a complete egg on face scenario. Again Lloris played well and made some fantastic saves.

On to a reality check though. Soldado has 0 confidence and if anyone could have done with a run of games (which would have of benefit to Kane) and it would have made sense (consdering he scored against Fiorentina at home) to have started against West Ham. It is a well known fact that when you confidence is gone is difficult to play well.

This should not be interrupted as excusing Soldado for his poor miss, but really just a stark reminder that the striker is not on form and will continue that way until he is given a run of starting berths.

Jan and Fazio displayed further questions as to how they made it through their respective youth academies. Basic defending left the field before the game started for these two. Fazio loves a panic and Jan is often caught napping, so this partnership must be broken up straight away. It was shown through stats that Tottenham’s record was better with the two paired, however I question that....it really comes down to a game, how the opposition plays and what our star man Lloris is doing that day.

Another surprise was to see Chadli and Eriksen disappear into the abyss. It seems that the times when the pair are needed (as in to put a shift in for the game not pop up with a goal) they sneak off and hide amongst the crowd.

The trouble for Spurs is their inability to show consistency. Their big names disappear when needed and the manager has now shown that he has a lot to learn (however he is young and I expect mistakes).

Apart from all of this another big issue was the fact that the squad was only weakened in the January window (which has shown was a very bad move given our fixture congestion).

I truly hope that the team pick themselves up and bounce back with a win against Chelsea, however the likelihood is that they will struggle with a bad loss last night, 2 draws previously and a lack of rest. It’s interesting how easy it seems to a spectator, but it made common sense to go all out at home, squad team on Sunday and last night. This would have left a fresh faced first team to fight for the Cup Final on Sunday.

I wish the lads all the best, but don't put last night behind you. Use it to remind you that a loss on Sunday keeps the team seen as a team that makes up the numbers and not a serious contender.
