Strike Out!

AVB is no fool and to say that he is happy with the striker options shows that he has been told by Levy what to say.

Levy is a man that has always liked to keep things secret; he's not one for shooting his mouth off, whether it be to blow his own horn or to apologise (which to think of it I have never heard).

As we have now all been made aware Defoe has been injured for some time and he has been patched up repeatedly because we had no other option! This could explain why one second Defoe is on fire and the next moment, he is seeming to struggle. This was done by Levy's stupidity or arrogance (in that he knew what he was doing by not signing another striker in the summer).

We are being told that Defoe will be fit for the Norwich game, but we had heard rumours that he will need surgery, so what is really going on? As it stands Levy is now trying to secure another striker, if we are to believe the Daily Star (haha) then we are to land Damiao. Now doesn't this sound just like the whole Moutinho deal? It was all but done then fell apart and then we never go back in for the player? It is all overzealous reporting. Contact may have been made, but we all know that those two deals are so complex that Levy would not allow it the needed time as it would have a negative affect on his negotiating.

Also we are not in for Hooper (I had stated that this was not on the cards at the time), but AVB has now confirmed this.

So this doesn't leave us with many options does it? The only available striker that we have been linked to left is; Negredo, but will Levy make a desperate attempt to sign him? I don't think so. The likely hood is that Levy will continue with his lack of commitment and go for a cheap option or nothing (and “leak” info to say how close we were to some big name). Can I just ask all you Levy fans to think about how many times this has happened all these big name signings that were so “close” and then we never go back in for them?

I hate to say it but Levy has proven this by signing Holtby instead of Willian or Moutinho and it is likely to happen again with a striker (if at all). Once again Holtby is a good signing for the future but we needed a world class creative midfielder ready made to fit in and help achieve 3rd or 4th.

Well as good as Holtby is Mr Levy, I for one am not falling for it any longer. You have been a man to look at cheap optiosn in January rather than the right option and enough is enough. Come Friday I expect to be left wondering why Levy is considered such a great chariman when he fails to make the right decisions under pressure. We all know what boardrooms are like and if I were there I would be handing Levy his P45 for failing in achieving key players in January which hindered the success for a Champions League spot. You can always argue though that it maybe that Levy is just another puppet of the Lewis show? Who knows, but for the moment he is the one to blame.

That aside we are where we are. In all honesty I think Wilfried Bony is a very conservative option and better than many available at such a price, but I have a feeling we are all (unfortunately) on a wild goose chase.

Once again though Levy PROVE ME WRONG........ PLEASE
