The real Tottenham targets revealed

David Villa: Don't make me laugh! Although Villa was a great player he is now the wrong side of 30 and too old to spend the quoted £16million that Barca want. He is coming back from a serious injury and this alone is a reason to steer clear.

Anas Sharbini: Another comical link here. The supposed agent has said that Tottenham are in advanced talks with Al Ittihad where he transferred to from Hajduk in the summer. His agent is trying hard to manufacture a move for his player (as he doesn't like the league) and typically he is linked to a buying club like Tottenham. Other than the fact that this 25 is not good enough for AVB another player (below) is why we aren't interested in him.

Lewis Holtby: This player is about to sign a pre-contract with Tottenham leaving Schalke on a free in the summer. With this player pretty much in the bag you can understand why we are not in for Sharbini (apart from the fact that he is not good enough and never been watched by us). Levy has been shrewd in that we are not in need for the player to join us now, so we can wait until the summer to get the man for free. Well done Mr Levy!

Moutinho: Although we are linked with this player and people believe it is a done deal, it is further away than what we are aware of. The ownership of this player has caused major issues and this has put this deal in the background whilst we push for other targets.

Wesley Sneijder: We have been in contact with the player and his agent, but as you would expect Wesley is waiting on all offers before he pushes on with advanced negotiations (so his agent was telling the truth when he said there are no ADVANCED negotiations. Also there is still the issue of his signing on fee from his move to Inter that is being negotiated.

Willian: A true target and we have been in talks with Shakhtar for some time now. The issue as it stands is the transfer fee as Shakhtar are cash rich and are in no rush to sell (they are hoping to wait and get a higher price). Levy has been pushing hard bless him, but with time against us (just under 30 days to complete it), we may end up having to look elsewhere for that much needed creative player.

Klass Jan Huntelaar: We have been in talks with Schalke about the player behind the scenes and although it has not come out Schalke have been contacted and so have the player. He is a true target available for a small price (considering who he is) and that is something that will have Levy rubbing his hands together. Watch out for whispers on this one.

Fernando Llorente: A player that we would love to see, but an unlikely target. He will leave the club in the summer for free and this is what will stop Tottenham from getting this man. Bilbao have made it clear that he will see out his contract as they want to get the best from their man. Llorente will have to push for a good second half of the season to make sure he obtains a bumper deal (the likes of Barca and Real will be watching him, along with the rest of europes elite).

Christian Eriksen: Another Ajx youth player that is making it big. Although clubs have contacted Ajax about him the player has come out and made it clear that he s not looking to leave yet. He will see this season through at least and I find it refreshing to hear a young man state I am not ready for a big move and Ajax have a lot to teach me. Expect to see a scramble for him in the summer.

So there we have it a shopping list to get you excited (other than Anas Sharbini), but after securing Fryers it is likely that we will see a creative midfielder and striker come in. Its what I have been calling for way before the transfer window opened again. We have a class signing in Fryers (and at a bargain), just 2 more to follow.

I would expect to see Huntelaar and Sneijder, unless we can agree on a fee for Willian.
